Peter Y. L. Eng - Mr. Peter Y. L. Eng is a founding shareholder of the Allied Holdings Group which has been engaged in the business of real estate investment and development in Western Canada since 1968 and in the hospitality business since 1986. He has been a director of Allied Holdings Ltd. since 1973, was its President and Chief Executive Officer from 1973 to 1979, the Chairman of its Board from 1979 to 1991, and has been its Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer since 1991. Mr. Eng has also been involved with numerous real estate projects in Asia and the United States. Mr. Eng holds an M.A. degree from the University of Hong Kong, an M.B.A. degree from Pepperdine University and an honorary Doctorate of Laws from Simon Fraser University. He is currently a director of HSBC Bank Canada and HSBC North America Inc.
Dato' Eng Tee Ng - Dato' Ng was President of King George Development Corporation from 1985 until its amalgamation with AHPI in the fall of 1999. He remains on the Board, representing C.T. Management Corporation, a major shareholder of AHPI. Dato' Ng is a director of C.T. Management Corporation and its parent, Chee Tat Holdings (S) Pte Ltd, a private investment company based in Singapore. He is currently Executive Director/Deputy Chairman of United Malayan Land Bhd, a real estate development and investment company listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. Dato' Ng is a founding life member of the President's Club of Simon Fraser University.
Patrick K. Kong - Mr. Patrick Kong has more than thirty years of management experience in the hospitality industry and has held senior executive positions with several hotel groups prior to founding his own management consulting company in 1994. He had since managed such hotels as the Radisson President Hotel & Suites, Sheraton Four Points Hotel - Niagara Falls, Ramada Plaza/Park Plaza - Vancouver Airport. In order to expedite the Radisson Presidents Hotel's market penetration, he assumed the additional responsibilities of General Manager of the Hotel in 1995 and in the same year received the Esprit Award as General Manager of the Year for Radisson Hotels Worldwide from among Radisson's 322 general managers. Mr. Kong earned his Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1980 and received his Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation in 1996. He also completed Cornell University's Professional Development Program in Hotel Planning & Design and Food Service Facilities: Development & Design. Mr. Kong is a Director and Past President of Tourism Richmond.
Syed Abu Bakar bin Syed Mohsin Almohdzar - Mr. Syed Abu Bakar is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (England) and a member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants. He is a director of United Malayan Land Berhad, a real estate development and investment company listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. In addition, he sits on the board of several private companies in Malaysia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
Michael F. Chan - Mr. Michael F. Chan, was appointed President and Director of AHPI in 2003, and prior to that time he held the position of Vice President, Corporate Development and Corporate Secretary. Since 1993, he has held various executive positions within the Allied Holdings Group and has been involved in hotel and real estate development, mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis. He also holds the position of President of Allied Pacific Properties and Hotels Ltd. and is also a Director of Allied Holdings Ltd. He is currently a public representative on the Board of Directors of the College of Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia and is also a member of the Board of Advisors of the Granville Island Trust. Mr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, an MBA in International Management from the Asia Pacific International Graduate School of Management, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C.
John R. Ellen - Vice-President Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. John has been with the Company since 1992 and has been a Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer since 1996. In 2003 John was appointed Corporate Secretary. John is also Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of Allied Pacific Properties and Hotels Ltd., a TSX Venture company. Prior to moving to Canada he worked for Ernst & Young, Chartered Accountants, initially in Edinburgh, Scotland and then in Europe and North Africa. John holds a bachelor degree in Accounting (1st class Hons) from the University of Stirling in Scotland and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. He is the Alumni representative for the University of Stirling for Western Canada and is also the contact for ICAS members in British Columbia.
Alan Andrew Eng - Vice President, Hotel Operations of Allied Hotel Properties Inc has been working in various hospitality operations since 1990 and was General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia from 2000-2002. Mr. Eng served as an Asset Manager for the company prior to his current position. In addition, Mr. Eng serves as a member on the board of the Crowne Plaza Brand Committee and on the Canadian Committee of the International Association of Holiday Inns. Mr. Eng has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Chicago.
Francis A. Wong is the principal shareholder and chairman of Genesis Hotel Development, an international, full service hotel development company with offices in Indian Wells, California. Mr. Wong, in partnership with others, developed and owned several hotels in Hawaii, including the Maui Marriott Resort and Fairmont Kea Lani Resort and Spa. Currently, as a principal, he is involved in La Quinta, California in the development of a mixed-use project, which will include a Homewood Suites by Hilton, condominiums, a medical office building and surgical centre. Mr. Wong has had a distinguished political career, including being a member of the staff of U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy and is a retired Hawaiian State Senator. He was also a named partner in his Hawaiian law firm of Rice Lee & Wong, a graduate of Georgetown College and Georgetown University Law Centre.
